Why is October the Month of the Rosary?

Hello Everyone! This is my very first post, and it feels especially meaningful to share it, since I decided to launch this site in the month of October.

You might be wondering, why is October known as the Month of the Holy Rosary?

Well, to put it simply, it is tied to a major event in our Catholic faith and history.

Let’s take a walk through history together.

Back in 1571, when Europe faced a great threat of invasion from the Ottoman Empire, Pope St. Pius V called upon all Christians to unite in prayer of the Rosary. Asking for the intercession of the Virgin Mary. Each Rosary became a shield of faith, served as protection and reflection of the live of Christ through the eyes of Mary.

Then, on October 7th, of the same year, the miraculously defeat of the Ottoman Empire was attributed directly to the intercession of our Blessed Mother. In gratitude of this great victory, Pope Pius V commemorated and established the feast of our Lady of Victory.

Through the times, this beautiful devotion was renamed as the Feast of the Holy Rosary, which blossomed overtime in, not only a day of celebration, but a whole month.

For us, catholics, October is a sacred invitation to hold our Rosaries a little closer and meditate on the mysteries of the life of Christ. Praying the Rosary more frequently, dedicating our devotion and daily prayer to reflect on its mysteries.
